God is,
My man is,
My man understands his place in my heart is second to just One.
He walks confidently with that knowledge,
Understands it,
Embraces it,
Knows its worth,
I too am second to One.
Beyond looking good in a suit and tie…
Beyond raising his voice in the choir…
Beyond passing the collection plate…
His hand is in God’s hand,
Mine is in His,
Ours are intertwined.
His strength comes from above,
Pulsates through our home and is supported by my love,
He is aware of his power,
Aware of his presence,
Of his heart,
My heart,
He is worthy,
I am cherished,
He protects,
I care,
He is genuine,
I am authentic,
We trust,
We love,
We create,
Our composition brings forth happiness,
We work,
We laugh,
We fight,
We cling,
We cry,
He giggles,
I smile,
We pray,
We dream,
There is joy.
We are in love,
We are love,
A just-for-us love,
A forever-growing love,
An abounding love,
A respect-for-self love,
A forgiving love,
Just-show-me love,
A receiving love,
A “dust you off and kiss it where it hurts” love,
I want the “work your hardest and breathe” love,
Just breathe love.
He is whole,
I supplement him,
I am complete,
He increases me.
We have choice.
I choose him.
I am chosen.
We know we are chosen.
Facades have fallen,
Representatives removed,
An orderly walk deep in reality,
We are aware of our truth,
We respect our love,
My man,
I,
He.

THIS is THE TRUTH. Oh so admirable are these words. Dreamy, yet obtainable. It’s a shame that in TODAY it appears that with all the hecticness that’s going on, such love, such happiness, and such serenity seems harder to achieve than the lottery. It appears that it’s easier to catch HIV/AIDS than to HONESTLY fall in love…………
It’s also so sad that folks don’t want to put in WORK and understand that with love there comes some arguments and sacrifice, yet they are amended with understanding and growth.
Thanks for this post. It caused for much reflection and it brought back to life that sense of HOPE.
Forever Fabulous,
The Single Dame
Dame – that is a great comparison… cuz when people don’t put in the work and the relationship fails it costs much more than a couple of lottery tickets. Sad that it’s easier to wager on the lottery than on a relationship, but the good thing is… healthy love is the greatest prize.
